First, we want to thank all of you for your patience. The M1™ production schedule is still on target, and the financial health of Inboard as a company is stronger than ever. In addition to raising the funds from Kickstarter, Inboard has raised significant additional funds over the past few months from an incredible group of investors. The team here is working hard to get your M1 to you as soon as possible.
We’ve gotten tremendously positive emails, phone calls, and social media messages from so many of you over the past few months. It truly is awesome to have such a positive and proactive community supporting our team here at Inboard. Please keep those positive emails & social posts coming!
We thank you for your patience, support, and willingness to help us bring such an amazing product to market.
The M1 shipping timeline remains the same as our last update. The M1’s PowerShift™ Battery has been in the lab and testing continues to go smoothly. We will let you know as soon as we receive our final battery certification in mid-July.
We are planning to deliver as many Kickstarter and pre-order customer boards as possible in July and August. We know that you want to get out there and ride this summer, and we want you to do it on the M1!
The M1 Beta Board Test Program has been going well. We plan to continue to gather feedback from beta testers and from those who receive our final production M1’s too. Your feedback has helped us make the M1 an amazing product, and we want to continue to improve it over time. One of the coolest things about the Manta Drive™ is that we can update the performance of the M1 via software updates! Just like Tesla, we plan on releasing updates to the M1 to improve performance, range, and even potentially add additional modes after we ship.
We have shifted the focus of the beta program from a single block of testers, to waves of testers, so testing will continue through July. We did this because it's easier for us to manage and act on the feedback. Dave, Nate, Leo & Max have been driving around the state of California, hand delivering the M1, and have had a great time meeting everyone!
Some folks have asked why there haven't been more posts on social media from the beta testers. We suggested our beta testers hold off on posting on social media as we felt they'd get inundated with additional questions, but it’s ultimately up to them if they want to share content. We know you want to hear from the testers about the M1 beta boards and their experiences, so we compiled a video from a few beta testers.
We’ll be sharing more M1 Beta content as we continue the program. Which leads us to...
Inboard Beta Test Ride Tour
Because of all of the positive response so far, and the overwhelming number of you volunteering for the beta program, we wanted to offer another chance to ride the M1 Beta board.
This week we are launching the Inboard M1 West Coast Test Ride Tour! It starts this Saturday and runs throughout the month of July. We’ll be doing test rides, raffling off prizes, and listening to some great music!
Our first test ride will be this Saturday, June 25th in Santa Cruz, CA! If you’d like to come by and visit, please sign up for the event here. If you plan on attending, be sure to sign up so we have a sense of the volume of people planning to attend. We hope to see you there!
Later in July we will be doing Test Ride events in San Francisco (July 8th) and Los Angeles (July 30th). Dates are subject to change, and we’ll email updates for each individual event.
If you’re unable to get to one of our West Coast events, not to worry. We’ll be hosting other events throughout the rest of the year.
Ryan Evans, CEO of Inboard, has been invited to Berlin, Germany for the Tech Open Air Conference (TOA) July 13-15. Ryan will be speaking about Inboard, the M1, and growth of the “Rideable Technology” market. Pending battery certification, he will bring an M1 to Germany for a demo, so if you’re in Berlin or heading to the TOA event, please let us know. We’d like to organize a small meet-up for our German customers. For details email firstname.lastname@example.org or check out toa.berlin/conference.
As always, if you have any questions, comments, thoughts, or concerns, feel free to leave a comment here or drop us an email at our contact page. We can't wait to ride with you soon!
